Have A Meal With A Muslim Day
Here’s an idea that seems to be spreading in response to the “Burn a Quran Day” protests.
From reading my last post, you might think that I oppose the idea behind “Have A Meal With A Muslim Day.” Actually that’s not the case. When Republicans say that people SHOULDN’T burn flags or when Democrats say that people SHOULDN’T burn Qurans, that’s when I get my undies in a bunch. But when people disagree with flag burning by raising their own flag proudly or Quran burning by engaging in dialogue with a Muslim, then that’s not them trying to control others actions, but making a principled stance through their own actions (Something I can totally get behind).
So if you don’t like what others do with their free expression, don’t attempt to silence them, but use your own freedom to do and say things that represent your values.
