Banned From The xkcd Forums
Well I guess this is Serious post, technically.
You can see why I got banned here link
I don’t mind if people disagree with me. Nobody should. In the course of debate people might say things that others find objectionable. Forums need moderators, and for the sake of sanity, they have to be the arbiters of what is acceptable. I get all this, but it still makes me mad as hell when individuals with power censor based on ideological disagreements and speech codes. And to then go further and selectively quote them in order to turn them into a characture and use group pressure in the hopes of guilting them into abandoning their ‘inappropriate’ world view (Which, in case you haven’t guessed, is what happened to me) is… I am just so angry right now that I’m doing a rare thing and using this blog to rant in a very personal way. But there’s nothing really more to say. It’s not even a big deal (Who cares about being able to post on the xkcd forums?) It’s just a matter of principle I guess. And I know I could have avoided being banned by simply not saying anything when the moderator edited my post and asserted with indignation that I should be shamed. I just can’t not decry such blatant ideologically driven censorship. Now I think back to all the other posts by other people that I see censored on blogs and forums, and I wonder just how legitimate the reason for their censorship was. You have my promise that the only comments that shall ever be edited or deleted on this blog will be those of spam bots.
